Do I need a referral to get physiotherapy treatment?

It depends. The profession of physiotherapy does not require a referral. However, some benefit plans do require a referral in order for your treatment to be covered. Check with your healthcare insurance provider for details and requirements. If you are seeking OHIP funded physiotherapy you will need a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner. Please see the OHIP website for more information
